Enrollment Process

  • Enrollment in Poplar Bluff Schools requires residency within our district boundaries. Please call our Transportation Department at 573-785-5801 to verify your residential address and identify the corresponding elementary school zone.

We are committed to delivering a comprehensive range of educational services that cater to the varied needs of our students, from early childhood through adulthood, encompassing a variety of specialized programs:

    • Early Childhood Center:  An application-based program for children turning 3 on or before July 31st of the enrolling academic year and no older than 5 by July 31.
    • Kindergarten Center: Designed for children turning 5 years old on or before July 31st of the enrolling academic year.
    • Elementary Schools: Eugene Field, Oak Grove, O’Neal, and Lake Road Elementary Schools are our neighborhood elementary schools, serving students in grades 1-3. Additionally, Lake Road accommodates students up to grade 6.
    • Middle School, Junior High School, and High School: Our Middle, Junior High, and High Schools serve students in grades 4-6, 7-8, and 9-12, respectively.
    • Mark Twain School: Offers an alternative, individualized learning environment for selected students in grades 5-12.
    • Technical Career Center: The Technical Career Center serves local high school and adult students seeking to build their skills in a technical training program.
  • To ensure a smooth and efficient registration process for your student, please have the following documents readily available:

    • Proof of the Child’s Age and Identity: An original birth certificate, hospital record, passport, or visa will suffice to verify your child’s identity and date of birth.
    • Proof of Residency: Please provide a utility bill, lease agreement, property tax statement, or real estate contract as evidence of your local residency.
      • In instances where proof of residency is not in your name due to shared living arrangements, we ask that the primary resident accompany you to the registration meeting and present their proof of residency.
    • Immunization Records: A comprehensive record of your student’s vaccinations and medical history is required.
    • Previous School Records: If transferring from another institution, please bring transcripts, behavior, attendance records, and the contact details of the previous school.
    • Parent/Guardian Photo ID: A valid photo identification of the parent or guardian is necessary.
    • Legal Documents: Any relevant court orders, guardianship papers, power of attorney, or similar legal documents should be presented if applicable.

  • Our district participates in the USDA National School Lunch Program and School Breakfast Program, which provide free or reduced-price meals to eligible students. These programs help ensure that all children have access to nutritious meals at school, regardless of their families’ ability to pay.

We encourage all families to complete the Free and Reduced Price Meal Application.  The application is available online, or it will also be sent home with your child in the first week of school.
